3-D Forensic Animation

D.L. Myers & Associates proudly uses Virtual Crash 5 software for animations and simulations.

Animations can be a valuable demonstrative tool both in the pre-litigation phase of a case and if it progresses to court. It allows the opposing side, a judge, or juror the opportunity to closely examine what occurred from multiple angles that wouldn’t necessarily have been available to any eye witnesses, or people involved in the crash.  This additional perspective can be very important.

Many times, a juror is asked to put themselves in the defendant or plaintiff’s place and to look at a matter through their perspective. An animation is a way to do just that. An animation can put the jury in the driver’s seat and demonstrate what the driver could, or could not see.

The foundation of any good animation is the environment. This is where our RTK drone comes in! This survey-quality drone is used to make an orthomosaic of the scene with the actual building dimensions, vegetation, landscapes, parked vehicles, and any visual obstructions that were present at the time of the crash.

When the animation plays, you’ll see the crash occur with each vehicle approaching and departing the point of impact according to the speed analysis that has been completed during the crash reconstruction phase of our investigation.
